Areas of Expertise
With his experience in the fire service, Eric offers insight to fire and life safety considerations of building layout and construction. Eric provides a unique perspective on building design and construction given his firsthand knowledge of how extreme conditions such as fire, snow and ice loads can impact and overload building systems. He recently attended a week long seminar at the National Fire Academy focused on improving the response to hazardous situations in our schools.
Eric has hands-on experience in building construction such as interior renovations, framing, roofing and siding methods. In addition, while performing inspections of buildings, Eric has been able to observe most aspects of the construction process. He has had access to a wide range of buildings including residential and commercial properties, as well as industrial facilities. With a well-developed working knowledge of code references such as NFPA Life Safety 101 and the State Fire Code, he performed occupancy inspections and mechanical equipment installation inspections.
In addition to his duties as a firefighter and EMT, Eric was responsible for creating the Fire Department’s computer network. Computer technology has greatly impacted the ability of firefighters to operate safely at emergency scenes with data from pre-fire planning documents and integration of available property information, such as assessor property record databases and hazardous material reporting . Having current and accurate building data is vital to the successful mitigation of an emergency incident.
Eric resides in Goffstown, NH with his wife and his three children. He thoroughly enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, kayaking and sailing. As an avid hiker, Eric is pursuing completion of the 4000 foot peaks in New Hampshire. He is an active member of his church, and served as a vestry member for 6 years.
